Who I Am

I'm Débora Mumma, a proud Brazilian English teacher and the founder of English in the US. I live in the United States and work as an Assistant Professor across New Jersey community colleges, which gives me a front-row seat to how people really use English — whether they're settling into life here or using it back home.

Our Focus

We teach the English people actually use — the vocabulary, expressions, and cultural context that textbooks leave out. Our students include immigrants building a life in the U.S. and English speakers around the world using it for work, travel, and everyday life back home.

We celebrate the diversity and unique perspective every student brings, no matter where they're from or where they're headed. Together, we go beyond words — building the connections and confidence to reach your goals, wherever you are.
